Wm. Farmer & Sons
Wm. Farmer & Sons (you say the full “William” by the way ; ) is an absolute treasure of a location, seeming to exist in some sort of dream-world to us here at Rabe & Co… even though they’re actually only an hour away in Hudson, NY, and we could technically get up to see them a lot more often than we do.
There’s just something incredibly magical about this place, about owners Kristan Keck and Kirby Farmer, and about our connection to them. It was coincidental really. They needed a press kit designed and got our names on referral. Both Leigh (not working full time for us yet) and I had regretfully turned them down — we both had a boatload of commitments already. At the time anyway!
But we fatefully decided to share the assignment, splitting the total hours, and work together on it. So we drove up for a meeting. And, oh lord. We fell in love! With the welcome, the windows, the weather that day… with every brass fixture, rare bottle of bourbon, every perfect little pillow or funny little lampshade, etc. Not to mention a whole bunch of additional coincidences: shared interests and stories and shoes and trips. It was a little ridiculous. We didn’t just want to work for Wm. Farmer. We wanted to LIVE there. So… we took it upon ourselves to try and do just that. Vicariously of course: through a brand refresh, application design, new website, social media management and more.
If you can get there, please go. If you do, let us know, and we’ll try to meet you there! And either way, if you’re reading this and end up pleasantly sipping a cocktail one evening, please tell all of the Farmers (and that menu, and that fireplace, and literally any one of the rooms) that we’re missing them terribly and hope to see them very, very soon.
